The National Driver Guides and Porters Refresher Training Programme was created to enhance safari and mountain trekking experiences for tourists visiting Tanzania by improving service standards among driver guides, safari crews, and mountain porters.

The training programme brought together thousands of tourism professionals from across Tanzania and focused on building practical skills, professionalism, and customer care excellence within the tourism sector.

According to the official report, the programme successfully trained:

  • 2,428 safari driver guides
  • 1,159 mountain porters
  • A total of 3,587 tourism professionals across multiple training sessions in Arusha and Moshi

The training was officially launched by Tanzania’s Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism at Gran Meliá Arusha.

The refresher programme covered essential topics designed to improve guest experiences, operational safety, and responsible tourism practices.
