ENSURING THE WELL-BEING OF PORTERS COMES FIRST

Health Checkups and Insurance Coverage

we proudly conducted a successful health training program focused on First Aid and general well-being, reaching 600 hardworking porters. This initiative played a crucial role in equipping them with life-saving skills, improving their safety on the mountain, and ensuring they were better prepared for emergencies. The positive impact of this training was clear, as porters were able to handle minor injuries, recognize early signs of altitude sickness, and support each other in difficult situations. This training aligns with the Mount Kilimanjaro Porters Society’s (MKPS) mission to protect and empower porters, ensuring fair treatment and safe working conditions.

As we enter another rainy season, our focus remains on strengthening health training efforts. This year, 500 porters will undergo training, with an emphasis on improving First Aid techniques, early detection of health risks, and overall physical well-being. With unpredictable weather conditions, it is crucial to equip porters with essential gear, such as water-resistant clothing, gloves, and sleeping bags, as required by MKPS guidelines. Additionally, we will emphasize the importance of proper nutrition by ensuring that porters receive three meals daily while on treks. By improving these conditions, we aim to enhance the quality of medical assistance provided on the mountain, ensuring that every porter has the knowledge and tools to stay safe.

Empowering Change: Join Us In Making A Difference

We extend an enthusiastic invitation to all who have experienced the magic of Kilimanjaro with us and those considering embarking on this incredible journey. Your involvement goes beyond the climb itself. By joining hands with us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our porters. You can make a lasting impact by donating mountain gear, which directly enhances the safety and comfort of our porters on the mountain

In the same spirit of generosity demonstrated by Project Uhuru, we invite past climbers, future adventurers, and all those with compassionate hearts to support this meaningful cause. By coming together, we can provide our porters with high-quality equipment and essential gear, fostering a work environment that uplifts and empowers them.

Thank you for being a part of the Mount Kilimanjaro Porters Society and for your unwavering support. Your efforts truly make a world of difference.
