Kilimanjaro Health Run 2018

Image
The Kilimanjaro Health Run is conducted every year on the beginning of December  as we celebrate the World's Aid Day. This year the health run was celebrated at the Majengo football field and it was highly sponsored by Zara Charity and Zara Tours.

This years' aim was to ensure the transmission of HIV Aids in our country goes down to 0%. Many runners within and outside the country joined the movement as a sign of support and all with the aim of eradicating HIV Aids.

As we all know many people in our country have lost their family members and friends to this terrifying disease, it is our responsibility to ensure we all join and support all the movements aiming at diminishing the disease.

Mount Kilimanjaro Porters Society

Image
The Mount Kilimanjaro Porter's Society was created by ZARA Tours in 2004 for the purpose of preventing the exploitation of the local population and preserving the local environment through sustainable tourism. Before the founding of the Mount Kilimanjaro Porter's Society, there was no regulating body to ensure the safety and well-being of the porters summiting the mountain. Given the need for employment, these individuals were endangering their lives to secure work, they received poor quality provisions and safety gear, they overloaded themselves with equipment, and they were not paid fair wages. Also during this time, few porters possessed significant knowledge about sustaining Mount Kilimanjaro's ecosystem or habitat. The creation of the Porter's Society has fought hard to alleviate these challenges through central coordination. Now the Porter's Society is an established organization with its own constitution, includes over 700 porters, and is comp…

Image
TANZANIA, AFRICA–An analysis of 2,500 reviews by both tourists and expert travelers declared Tanzania the best place to experience an African safari. This is the second time visitors have chosen Tanzania for this top position, as it also was the highest rated country in a survey back in 2013.

The Mountain Man of Yardley is at it again!

Image
At 80, Werner Berger is climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, for the 7th time. Why? He says, “To celebrate my birthday at the top on July 16, and, of more importance, to inspire individuals of all ages to live their lives with greater Passion, Purpose, Health, and Fulfillment.” He then adds, “This is the launch of ‘Quest736, The Game is not Over (seven summits, seven continents in thirty-six (36) months).’”
We immediately wanted to ask, “What is that all about,” yet checked in with him, in anticipation of your question, “Who the heck is this guy?”.
Well, he is one of your neighbors; a Part-Time Bucks County resident and a Guinness World Records holder as the oldest person on earth to have climbed the seven summits; the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, including Mt. Everest. We asked him, “Why the heck would you be climbing at your age and planning to re-climbing the seven?” His casual response, “Because I love doing it and to inspire others to live their lives “…
