Zara Charity - MINI VAN PROJECT

Image
"Hello everyone, my name is Mussa Hassan Habib, I am a teacher at Ngorongoro Nursery School, located in Tanzania, and I am currently teaching 65 students. They are between 3 and 6 years old. They are from the Maasai tribes and their parents take care of livestock during the day. My students dream of becoming doctors, road guides, teachers, presidents, engineers and nurses. I want to help them realize their dreams and succeed in life. Almost all of them live near the school, but there is one problem. I have to walk 4 kilometers through the forest every morning to go to school and the same way every night to go home. I often meet dangerous animals like buffalos, hyenas, snakes, elephants... and sometimes I hear the lions roaring next to me when I go to school. It is the same for my students and it is a very dangerous place to walk. It worries me a lot and I am the only teacher in the area. If I were attacked by a wild animal, the students would not be able to go to school and their

Victorine's adventure: climbing Kilimanjaro by the Machame route in 7 days

Image
" Day 1: from MachamĂ© gate (1 800 m) to MachamĂ© camp (3 010 m) We had a team of five girls: my two roommates, Julie and AlizĂ©e, and two other customers of 20 and 21 years old, Laurie and Axelle. We left the Springlands Hotel around 9am after the briefing with the guide, Yohana. Laurie and Axelle arrived later the last night, so they could not do the briefing. The road was short, and we arrived quickly at MachamĂ© gate. We waited a long time, maybe 3-4 hours, in a great space where you can buy coffee, tea, hot chocolate or climbing equipments! I took a delicious cappuccino to warm me up. We ate our lunch box. Then, Yohana came for us to start the climb, with the assistant guide Nicolas and the French translator. It was strange because we did not know where was the camp and if it was a long or medium walking. We were in the rainy forest, whereas the name suggests, it was raining! We walked slowly slowly, polĂ© polĂ©  in Swahili, to acclimatize ourselves, and we drank a lot of water (3-

I meet the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete , for a courtesy call  at the Gran Melia Hotel in Arusha. He was President from December 21, 2005 to November 5, 2015. I offered him tourist handmade bags to thank him for his welcome, as the Tanzanian culture requires. It was a real pleasure to exchange with him.  Indeed, we are both strongly involved and impacted by the lives of Tanzanian people.  Thanks to Zara Charity, Zara Tours helps especially children, Maasai women and porters to have a more comfortable life.

How did Zara Tours overcome the covid-19 crisis?

Image
Tanzania has been hobbled by an economic slump, thanks to a brutal wave of coronavirus that pushed a significant number of businesses to close shops, driving millions of people into poverty. To deal with this unprecedented situation, I used domestic tour packages to keep people engaged, working and surviving. I successfully manage my tourism company through this time when travel restrictions shut down many organizations, especially those who serve the travel and tourism industry. While the method of attracting local tourism was a needed method, my overall business model has always centred on creating jobs, building environmental health, and supporting the most marginalized local population through education and resources. Indeed, Zara Tours employs over 1,400 workers. Thus, my innovative and sustainable business model have kept jobs alive and fought climate change,  as well as uplifted and impacted hundreds of marginalized women in the tourism host communities  of Tanzania. That is why
